How To: Make Fudg-Kist™ Apples
An irresistible blend of tart and sweet, fudge-dipped apples are a delightful treat any time of the year.
If you’re making a large number of dipped apples, Calico Cottage’s Setterstix inserter makes quick work of prepping the apples. Fill the inserter with Setterstix positioned pointed side up. Place the bottom of an apple atop the inserter and press to insert the stick.

Start with clean, dry, blemish-free apples. Granny Smith apples, which are pleasingly tart, are a popular choice.
Insert a Setterstix paper stick 2 inches deep into the bottom of the apple.
Before dipping the apple, be sure there’s no skin on the fudge in the kettle. (If there is, run the agitator for a few seconds to remove it.) Also check to see that the agitator isn’t blocking your access to the fudge.
Holding the stick, dip the apple into the fudge until it is completely coated.
Gently lift it out, and, holding it over the kettle, twirl it slowly while using a scraper to wick off extra fudge from the apple.
You can roll the fudge-covered apple in a variety of toppings, such as sprinkles or M&Ms®. Or you can decorate it to look like an animal or holiday character.
Place the apple on a piece of liner paper and let set for an hour. The apple can then be displayed or packaged for sale.
