Awareness ribbons are a powerful way to bring recognition to a charity or cause. Retailers can offer consumers the chance to support their special cause, and increase their own fudge sales in the process, by creating delightful fudge awareness ribbons.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
For more than 25 years, the month of October has been designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s a perfect time to introduce these unique fudge awareness ribbons to local organizations as an alternative to more traditional fundraising items.
When filled with fudge, these plastic containers will drive sales and raise money for worthy causes. Since pink is the color for breast cancer awareness, the ribbons can be filled with pink-colored Vanilla Fudge or flavors like Strawberry, Raspberry or Amaretto. Fill the ribbons with the appropriate color fudge that corresponds to a cause and they can be sold throughout the year.
Fundraising for other charitable causes
Lynn Petty owns a gift store in northwest Georgia where the Harbin Clinic is located. Many of the medical practices in the clinic have teams that compete in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Petty knew that the ribbons would be a big hit with people in her area.
"I sell fudge ribbons directly to the medical offices and they then sell the ribbons for their own fundraising efforts," Petty explains. "The connection between fundraising for cancer and the ribbons is so obvious that the sale is made without effort." Petty sold about 325 fudge ribbons to the clinics and they sold out within three weeks.
Awareness ribbons are great for in-store sales
In addition to fundraising, ribbons can be sold at retail stores or at fairs and festivals. "Selling fudge awareness ribbons is a wonderful and unique way to combine a delicious product that everyone loves with charitable giving," declares Petty.
